Cognac SB Dunk Low Review

Cognac SB Dunk Low Review

The Cognac Nike SB Dunk Low is one of the hottest SB Dunk lows of 2022. And for good reason - the rich, caramel and cream leather panels create a timeless look on an even more timeless silhouette. But are these SB Dunk lows a must cop release or are they simply one to admire from afar at the skatepark or on the street? We luckily managed to secure a pair locally so we'll run you through the highs and lows of this releasing SB Dunk Low.

First things first - the Cognac colourway is an absolute homerun. With Travis Scott and Jerry Lorenzo (Fear of God Founder) making brown hues a must have on any streetwear, this colourway fits right into what is trendy in 2022. We are particularly a fan of the fact that this colourway predominantly uses two colours for the entire shoe, cognac and white. We all love the colourful SB releases but this release is more akin to a dunk low's styling with all the plushness of a SB dunk, essentially making it the best of both dunk worlds. It's no coincidence that Nike released a normal dunk low that has similar colour blocking just a few weeks ago, but we'd argue that these are comfier, cheaper and most importantly, will last longer. If we were to give the colour blocking a number on this SB release, we'd rate it a 9/10.

If you're looking for a pair of SB Dunk lows to actually skate in, the Cognac Nike SB Dunk Low is a great choice. They're comfortable, durable and the leather is made to last. We found the sizing to be relatively true to size, but if you're between sizes most skaters opt to go half a size up for SB Dunks. The herringbone pattern provides great grip and the buffed up insole offers plenty of impact support, making them a great choice for any skate session. When it comes to a skateable shoe, the Cognac Nike SB Dunk Low ticks all the boxes.

These peaty dunks are as versatile in skating as they are in outfit styling. The usual way to wear SB dunks is with baggy jeans and loose fitting shirts/hoodies, all of which will match well with this creamy dunk. A particular brand we'd think would look awesome with this dunk is anything by Butter Goods or perhaps you can opt for a more mainstream brand like Carhartt. If you aren't into skating based brands, even items from the Fear Of God Essentials lines or Mr Winston will pair up pretty well with these SBs. Regardless of what you wear with these dunks, they'll no doubt be a complimentary part of any outfit.

So, should you cop the Cognac Nike SB Dunk Low? If you're a fan of the colourway and SB Dunks, we say go for it. They're a great shoe to skate in and we believe they're the type of shoe that'll become a staple in any sneaker rotation like the curry dunks did in early 2021. If you're not too fussed on the colourway, we'd still recommend picking up a pair if you can score them for retail as they're most likely bound to become a pair collectors seek out in the future.

Unfortunately, this pair has already sold out in most Australian skate stores. If you missed out and are still chasing a set, you can buy with complete piece of mind from our authenticated and verified store here.
