The Best Sneakers For Short Kings
For all the short people out there, here are some sneakers that will make you taller without lifts while still looking effortlessly stylish. For each sneaker, we’ll also recommend one of the best colourways from the silhouette.
The sneaker that inspired an over $1 billion dollar sneaker line for Nike, Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 combines running and comfort to make arguably the most important shoe ever produced. This sneaker manages to sneak an almost 1.5inch sole while still keeping it lowkey. If you're in need of a new Nike sneaker and want some extra height, this is by far the best shoe to get. In terms of our favourite colourway, we’d suggest the recently released Patta Monarch or Noise Aquas as they’ll be wearable for longer and they are still relatively cheap. You can pick up a pair here
Although the Yeezy hype may have died down recently, the Yeezy 350 V2 is a classy, beautiful and an all-in-1 kind of shoe. Wear it while out with friends, wear it out to a fancy dinner or wear it while you’re doing your first run trying to get trim for summer, this sneaker truly works for any occasion. This shoe has a 3cm sole which translates to an extra 1 and a bit inches while on foot. If we were to recommend a colourway that is equally affordable and stylish, we’d go with the ‘Ash Blue’ or ‘Mono Ice’ colourway. This may be because we’re obsessed with blue or because the price tag doesn’t make dinners 2 minute ramen for a week.
The hottest silhouette of this summer, the Jordan 4 has more to offer than its clashing layers and sleek style. It also includes a 3.1cm sole that gives you an almost unnoticeable 1.2 inch boost. There are so many amazing colourways for this shoe releasing and there will be many more as Nike approaches the winter calendar. In terms of picking just one colourway, we’re currently obsessed with the Union X Nike ‘Moss’ colourway that is equally bold as it is easy to match with autumn tones.
An honourable mention as a sneaker, the Adidas Nite Jogger gives an insane 1.37 inches of height when on foot. Although it is more of a running pair, this shoe matched with an adidas tracksuit will look contemporary and comfy. As it is a relatively new silhouette, this sneaker is still expanding its colourway variety. However, a great starting colourway would be the ‘Signal Green’ Ivy Park x Adidas pair. Sporting a varied palette of greens and a cream upper, this shoe is nothing but heat and we’re willing to make the call that this pair and silhouette as a whole will become the next trendy shoe everyone is after.
With New Balance rising like a phoenix out of its old, boring ways, the New Balance 550 fits perfectly in the rising sustainable fashion trend. This pair captures the calming vibe of Cortez’s or Reebok c85s while still providing a 1.18inch high sole. This is the shoe for any quiet sneakerhead who wants a comfy, height boosting and trendy sneaker. The ‘Natural Green’ Aime Leon Dore x New Balance colourway is perhaps the best pair money can buy, but it does require a lot of money - $800Aud +. In terms of a more budget friendly colourway, the ‘White / Green’ pair captures the same style without the harsh price tag
If we missed a pair you’d recommend for anyone looking for more height, make sure to comment on our insta post or send us a direct message and we’ll add it to the next article! Additionally, let us know if you’d pick a different colourway for any of the above and we’ll put it up for a vote on our story.
